ジャケットも然ることながら、帯に書かれた日本語のタイトルからして、アルバム「Made in Heaven / メイド・イン・ヘヴン」の映像版と勘違いしそうだが、この「Champions Of The World / メイド・イン・ヘヴン ～ 伝説のチャンピオン」（2枚組レーザー・ディスク）は、メンバー及び、関係者や交流のあったミュージシャンへのインタビューや、ミュージックビデオ＆メイキング映像、ライブ映像などでクイーンの軌跡と歴史を綴るドキュメンタリー作品となっている。
クイーンのドキュメンタリーとしては前回取り上げた「Magic Years / 栄光の軌跡」に続く作品だが、"Magic Years"の方はフレディ存命中に制作されたビデオだったのに対し、この"Champions Of The World"はフレディの死後に制作されたビデオという点で、同じドキュメンタリー作品でも性質上大きな違いがあると思う。
日本に関する映像では、先にリリースされていた"Magic Years"にも初来日の様子が収録されていたが、こちらの"Champions Of The World"でもまた庭園でのお茶会の様子や、日本のテレビ番組に出演した時の映像といった初来日及び来日時の映像が収録されており、クイーンの歴史を語る上で日本が外せない存在となっている様子が伺える。
そして、紆余曲折を経ながら、映像で振り返る時代は更に進み、終盤の、フレディが制作に携わった最後のアルバムとなった「Innuendo / イニュエンドウ」の場面では、"Innuendo"に収録されている曲のミュージックビデオが過去の映像を使用したものだったり、モノクロの映像だったりしたのはフレディの病状を隠すためのだったことをブライアンが明かす。
この時期、フレディは他のメンバーに対して「どんどん曲を書いてくれ、僕に歌わせてくれ」と言っていたそうで、3人のメンバーもまた、フレディの体調が良いときは直ぐにスタジオに入れるように態勢を取っていたとのこと。
クイーンの歴史を映像で振り返るドキュメンタリー作品としては、先にも述べたように、フレディが存命中に制作された"Magic Years"があり、内容的にダブる部分もあるのだが、ただ、これも先に述べたことに繋がるのだが、フレディが存命中に制作されたものと、フレディ亡き後に制作されたものとでは、同じ映像でも見方や捉え方が違ってくるんだよね。

This is the real and personal story behind the Queen phenomenon: One of the most extraordinary chapters in rock and roll history, now indelibly printed in the minds of millions throughout the world.
It's a story beginning 25 years ago when John Deacon, Brian May, Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor played together for the first time. Suddenly rock was no longer the same. Under Queen it became bigger, brasher, more extravagant and unashamedly more entertainment than ever before.
Queen set the the milestones and landmarks for two generations: 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'We Will Rock You', 'We Are The Champions', Rock In Rio, Live Aid, the Magic Tour. Queen have released 20 LDs, sold more than 130 millions records, and influenced legions of todays major artists, many of whom were there for the final tribute to Freddie at Wembley Stadium in April 1992.
'Champions Of The World' is also a private look at the world of Queen, the lives and times of four people, John, Brian, Freddie and Roger, who provided each other with the inspiration and purposethat was the magic behind the phenomenon.
